Do the best you can!
A story is told of a preacher who one day came out of a hotel whistling. A little boy playing in the yard heard him, and said, ‘Is that the best you can whistle?’
‘No!,’ said the minister, ‘Can you best it?’
The boy said he could, and the minister said: ‘Well, let’s hear it.’
The little fellow began to whistle, and then insisted that the minister should try again. He did so, and the boy acknowledged that it was good. As he started to move away the boy said: ‘Well, if you can whistle better, why were you whistling so badly?’
In the busyness of our fast-paced life, it is often so true of many of us. Just bearing the daily grind, without being motivated to give our best shot. “Just do it!” is a cliche we are so accustomed to, and we just do it, never minding how it works out.
We have enough of people who are doing things just for the sake of doing it. What we ought to be, and always strive for, is to always give our best – the very best!
PostScript: Well, it’s good to be back, and hopefully there won’t be such a long break in future. I really appreciate your concern and prayers, and many thanks for the same! Incidentally, this is my 50th blog post, and calls for celebration. Cheers to you all!
