The Lord’s Prayer
I cannot say…..
“Our” – if I live only for myself.
“Father” – if I do not endeavor each day to act like his child.
“Who art in heaven” – if I am laying up no treasure there.
“Hallowed be thy name” – if I am not striving for holiness.
“Thy Kingdom come” – if I am not doing all in my power to hasten that wonderful event.
“Thy will be done” – if I am disobedient to his Word.
“On earth as it is in heaven” – if I do not serve him here and now.
“Give us this day our daily bread” – if I am dishonest or am seeking things by subterfuge.
“Forgive us our debts” – if I harbor a grudge against anyone.
“Lead us not into temptation” – if I deliberately place myself in its path.
“Deliver us from evil” – if I do not put on the whole armor of God.
“Thine is the kingdom” – if I do not give the King the loyalty due him from a faithful subject.
“The power” – if I fear what men may do.
“The glory” – if I’m seeking honor only for myself, and
“Forever” – if the horizon of my life is completely bounded by time.
Oh my…this is excellent! Excellent!!!!!

I am teaching my grandson the lords prayer. He said he’d like to learn it, as it sounds like poetry. I told him all of God’s words are poetry to our ears. I like your version!

Paul exhorts us to examine ourselves in 1st Cor 11:28. Here’s a great breakdown of a healthy examination in the model of prayer as given to us by Jesus himself.
Thank you, brother Don!

Hi — Thanks for the follow and your interest in my blog! I loved this challenge to the Lord’s Prayer when I read it years ago. I’m glad it’s being passed around again.
Most uplifting and to think I would have missed this had you not kindly left an appreciation on my own blog, and I intend to reblog very soon.
In my humble opinion, this is a fitting addition to what Jesus said about this for He stressed that we can actually block Father’s loving grace to us personally through our harbouring unforgiveness towards those who’ve hurt us! (Matt 6:14-15) And my, how rapidly one’s decision to forgive can bring even physical healing – as my wife was blessed to discover (http://wp.me/P1Y1yB-LF) – praise you Lord!
The Lord continue to keep His face turned towards you and yours, Khamneithang.

Most uplifting and imho a fitting addition to what Jesus said about this model prayer – He stressed that we can actually hinder and prevent Father’s loving grace to us as an individual through unforgiveness towards those who’ve hurt us! (Matt 6:14-15)
