instigating a life, one story at a time…

Traveling across the sky

Time is fleeting. It passes by so quickly.

Into deep summer, the year is half over, and only five-and-half months to be lived. Never knew that life was like a 100 metre dash.

When still a kid, Christmas, birthday and the winter holidays were the only time worth waiting for. Life then was like a marathon. Christmas never came. Birthdays were too slow to come. And the holidays were too few and far in between. Oh, the agony of that excited wait… If life can be lived as a kid forever, how much simpler, peaceful and friendly the world would be!

When you grow up, time usually catches you unaware. It was dry last week. You get older by a week, and it is raining cats and dogs. Not a happy situation for a person who has works outside to earn money. I was tempted to grumble until I read this:

          Rain clouds filled with lightning
          appear at God’s command,
          traveling across the sky
          to release their cargo –
          sometimes as punishment for sin,
          sometimes as kindness.

          Job 37:11-13
          Contemporary English Version

Do I still complain about the weather? God knows best what He’s doing!

  1. You are right about time. Sometimes it’s scary how fast it goes and I know I haven’t lived each day to the fullest.

  2. Wonderful from Earl in Haifa

  3. Its a good verse. Job understood the meaning of pain. We can learn a lot from his despair-stricken pleas and complaints.

    Job 38:22-23 NIV
22“Have you entered the storehouses of the snow
or seen the storehouses of the hail,
23which I reserve for times of trouble,
for days of war and battle?

thanks for all the cool pictures you add to your posts.

  4. Your opening words remind me of a hymn we sang at church today:

“We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.”

It helps me be less afraid of aging when I remember that God is always the same. He is so good!

  5. You are right. On both accounts. It is easy to complain rather than taking that extra moment to appreciate nature’s (Gods) glory, in what every format it is taking. Nice post. Thank you for sharing

  6. Time certainly travels quickly, but that is OK because it means we are one day closer!

  7. There’s a Russian saying: “Weather doesn’t have bad weather”
And: “There’s no such thing as bad weather. There are bad clothes, however.”
Both proverbs point out that weather turns out bad only insofar it’s inconvenient for us. But who are we to measure this?

  8. Beautiful and so true.

  9. I love this post! It reminds me of how when you’re a child your heart is yearning for each holiday and winter to come by fast, and the wait seems unbearable. But as you get older, it’s like you aren’t expecting so much from each season anymore. All you think of is whether or not it will affect your job or travel.

Thank you so much for this post; I enjoyed it very much! Keep up the good work!
    Warm regards,
    Stenila

    • It is so nice to hear from you and be praised so handsomely. I think that’s one of the rewards of blogging, and I must say that I’m so lucky. Keep in touch and be blessed!

      • Thanks! Actually, I find it a blessing to read your posts from time to time. There are many meaningful insights that I may have never thought about. I hope God uses you as an instrument to fulfill His will!

Thanks again for the wonderful posts!
        God bless u!

  10. I love the opening after the wonderful picture. It is awesome to see God’s glory in wonderful photos such as this one. You are a gifted writer and God bless you real good.

  11. Thanks so much for your insight. Here too in the Midwest rain has been hiding. My grass has turned to eternal hay until next spring. However outside a few days in a row that were above 100 degrees, everything has been nice. At least that is how I view it.

I also wanted to thank you for following. I’m working on getting my numbers up and it is a blessing when someone such as yourself who has lots of followers takes the time to find someone like me who is still growing.

Have a nice day and as Red Skelton was unafraid to say, “God Bless.”

  12. I find myself thinking how similar words can come from such different thoughts. Here is a poem I wrote about taking time to slow down and live in the moment. It is a true story…

    radiant beams
    a hole in the clouds
    gossamer strands
    speak out loud
    warmed heart
    a child’s eyes aglow
    soul is livened
    I drive slow

  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying so eloquently exactly how I feel.
